Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation and review of accurate and timely financial data that impacts the general ledger to the Controller and/or Director of Finance as well as providing leadership and guidance to the department. The Senior Accountant will assist in ensuring that accounting policies, procedures and internal controls are met with integrity and within the objectives set forth by management.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Controller in maintaining all accounting records of the company and its subsidiaries.
  • Participate and assist in the monthly close process
    • Prepare journal entries on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
    • Prepare property close folders on a monthly basis.
    • Prepare sales tax returns on a monthly/annual basis
    • Prepare management fees on a monthly basis
    • Prepare debt compliance on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis
  • Supervise staff accountants and review staff accountant preparation of:
    • Journal entries on a daily/monthly basis.
    • Close folders on a monthly basis
    • Sales tax returns on a monthly/annual basis
    • Management fees on a monthly basis
    • Debt compliance on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis
  • Participate and assist in the review of the general ledger, fixed assets, collections, accounts payable and cash management areas.
  • Participate and assist in the review of the quarterly external financial reports.
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify and research financial reporting and tax related issues.
  • Be able to read, interpret and abstract loan and lease documents.
  • Participate in internal audit to provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
  • Participate in due diligence projects for potential acquisitions.
  • Participate in compliance with local, state, & federal tax reporting.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Must be computer savvy and be able to identify, learn and implement new software programs to improve efficiency.

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the training, supervision, development and evaluation of the department which consists of Staff Accountants and Accounts Payable.
  • Take on special projects..
  • Work closely with the Controller to help achieve goals.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • At least three (3) years working experience.
  • Must have an Accounting Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and be working towards a Master’s and/or CPA.
  • Ongoing CPE.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Be able to prepare consolidated financial statements including footnotes.
  • Prepare statement of cash flows.
  • Have strong computer literacy skills. 
  • Must be detail oriented.   
  • Must be an entrepreneurial “take-charge” individual, who is results oriented with strong business acumen.  
  • Must have a “whatever it takes” attitude.
  • Industrial or Commercial Real Estate experience is preferred.
  • Development or construction experience is preferred.
  • Yardi system experience is preferred.
  • MRI system experience is required
  • Previous Avid or Yardi PayScan system experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in working with a third-party management manager is required, preferably with an Institutional manager.

Title: Communications Manager

Immediate Supervisor: CEO and President, Steven McCraney

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Summary: The Communications Manager is responsible for continually enhancing McCraney’s brand awareness online and in the media with the development and execution of communications plans, strategies, and content. The Manager will spearhead all external communications with the media and community in all markets and will focus on public relations and social media. The opportunities to learn and grow are tremendous, with hands-on experience in the industrial development industry.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Drive day-to-day media coverage with press in our Southeast market
  • Monitor and track traditional and social media analytics
  • Create and manage press releases, media alerts, quarterly newsletters, email communications, websites and social media
  • Conduct research for PR planning
  • Generate ideas and identify compelling human-interest stories that reinforce narratives to amplify content across various communications channels
  • Foster positive working relationships with media members, vendors, and team members

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in marketing or communications
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite & Adobe InDesign
  • Interest in commercial real estate development, land development, and brokerage- direct experience is preferred
  • Strong ability to write for both consumer and business audiences
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, positive attitude with a high level of contagious energy
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high aptitude for customer service
  • Strong ability to problem solve while not sacrificing project goals
  • Flexibility to attend events during evening hours and occasional weekends as necessary

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above
  • Must be physically able to sit and use the computer for hours at a time in office
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds
